It’s nearly Friday again and that time of the week when we bring you the best of this week’s new releases and reissues.
We start with the new releases…..
Mr Jukes………… God First
Jack Steadman’s (frontman from Bombay Bicycle Club) next move is no mere reinvention: Mr Jukes is a passion-project which feels distinctly back-to-your roots in flavour, allowing Steadman to explore the crate-digging influences of soul, funk, hip-hop and jazz – from Bill Withers to John Coltrane, via Floating Points. God First’ features an eclectic, carefully-curated cast of guests including: BJ The Chicago Kid, Charles Bradley, Lianne La Havas, Horace Andy, Laleh Hathaway & Elli Ingram. With the first single already being Mistajams ROTW on Radio 1 and NME ROTW it looks like this is going to be heading for a good chart position next week.
We will have both CD and Vinyl formats available.
Mura Masa……….Mura Masa
He is the most exciting British producer in the UK right now and this album comes off the back of huge streaming successes including Firefily, Lovesick and What If I Go which have racked up over 150million spotify streams combined to date. The new single ‘All Around The World’ (ft. Desiigner), which first aired as Radio 1’s Hottest Record in The World and is the next taste of Mura Masa’s much-anticipated, self-titled debut album, which also includes recent singles ‘Firefly’, ‘What If I Go?’, ‘Lovesick’ and ‘1 Night’ (ft. Charli XCX). ‘All Around the World’, is a thrilling highlight on an ever-surprising debut album, recorded alongside an extraordinarily diverse cast-list: ranging from Damon Albarn, Christine & The Queens and Charli XCX to ASAP Rocky, Jamie Lidell, A. K. Paul, and affiliates of Alex’s own Anchor Point family (like Nao, Bonzai and Tom Tripp). In and amongst all that, musically you’re as likely to find Prince-style wired funk sitting next to rap as you are tropical-inflected house and acoustic balladry. It’s singularly Mura Masa’s vision of what pop music (and modern British culture) should look like in 2017. Even the artwork rejects the idea of running to the page, or living in a box. Having been nominated for his first Ivor Novello Award and added to an extensive run of summer festivals, Mura Masa’s autumn headline tour featuring his biggest headline show to date at Brixton Academy.
The album is released as Limited Bespoke CD (WITH GRAPHICS PRINTED DIRECTLY ON THE CASE) , LP – 180g heavyweight single vinyl in a sleeve.
